Beautiful Art Form #1-4

Posted: Tuesday, May 1, 2001
By: Darren Schroeder

Creator: Neale Blanden
Publisher: Beautiful Art Form Press
Address: 20 Ross St, Huntingdale 3166, Australia
Price: ??

These four mini comics are jam packed full of surreal transformations, spiritual conundrum and just plain weird goings on. Neale's stylized approach to drawing adds to this tone with grotesque humans populating strange cities, or quirky cavemen becoming the dinner of huge dinosaurs who in turn become food for gigantic chickens.

Neale makes an appearance in the super strange issue Private Priest where he is informed that the only job he is suited to is that of Man of God. Given a collar and an ID card he sent out to solve peoples' problems. His skills are however stretched when he is faced with a troubled teenage girl who when asked about her problems, promptly starts to transform into a flower

If you have a certain distaste for the norms of reality then Neale's amusing and well drawn minis will be essential buys. They don't take themselves too seriously.

In a word: Fish
