Amber spent 3 months working in Fiji during 1999 and recorded a few of her thoughts and experiences during her time there. We get her musings on life, discussion about thongs (Jandels, Flip-flops). We get a nice feel for what things were like for her there, learning about what to do in the event of a storm (leave the doors ajar), how to deal with the heat (put up with it) and her attempts to bribe the garden mongoose to acknowledge her (Mongooses are very standoffish).
Her art style is simple and direct. While it might be rough in places, the whimsical tone of her writing and the ability to portray a great smile in a self-portrait that graces the cover will win you over.

In a Word: Wistful.
