STAPLE! Independent Media Expo

Posted: Tuesday, November 30, 2004
By: Darren Schroeder

The folks from the Independent Media Expo STAPLE tell us that they will be hosting its debut event on March 5th, 2005 in Austin, Texas, The Live Music Capital of the World. The goal of STAPLE is to establish an event for the purpose of promoting the display and barter of independent creative media, building community for independent creators and allowing for communication between those creators and their audience. Can't really fault that can you!

James Sime from Comic Book Resources has added his support to STAPLE! Austin is hands-down one of America's hippest cities; jam-packed with youth, culture, art and music. What better place to establish the front line for cutting edge comics culture?

When asked why STAPLE! is such an important event, STAPLE! founder Chris Nicholas had the following to say, I’ve seen that there is so much great stuff being done by so many talented artists and creators that is underrepresented and deserves a wider audience. That audience deserves a chance to see, and maybe even purchase those creations. STAPLE! is going to be a lot of fun.

STAPLE! is open to creators of comics, ‘zines, self-published literature, and art. Table space is available at $50 for a full table and $30 for a half-table. For more information, to register for table space, or to join the STAPLE! mailing list, visit http://www.staple-austin.org.

PS: Randy Lander from http://www.TheFourthRail.com has pledged his support to the STAPLE! cause by offering to review the books exhibited at the event. Exhibitors need only bring extra copies of their books for Randy to read, and he will post a review of at least one of them on TheFourthRail.com.
