The big two aim to force closure of Small Press Comics Association.

Shock news today that DC and Marvel have set their lawyers on a small press collective it what could be the first of many cases.

A lawyer speaking for DC and Marvel stated that they aim to force an end to the anticompetitive practices of small press publishers who don't have to meet the normal business compliance costs that face large publishers. "There is no way that my clients can compete for price or creativity with the ground level creative community, and it is starting to hurt their business."

So far we have been unable to contact anyone from the Small Press Comics Association for their comment, but before their website went off-line there was a message suggesting that Comic Book Legal Defence Fund had little interested in getting involved in the dispute. I rang for help and the guy at the other end said "Are you nuts, free speech is important, but if we help you none of us will ever work in the industry again"... Then he suggested I leave town.
