Plot: The last survivor of a Kree exploratory ship from an alternate reality is captured by a trillionaire who collects alien artifacts.
I never thought I'd see the day when Marvel would produce an imaginative, wide-screen, intelligent, action movie on acid like Marvel Boy. I'm very glad I was wrong.
Marvel boy is the tale of the ensign on a Kree exploratory ship who ends up stranded on Earth when the ship is shot down by a trillionaire privateer named Midas who has based an empire on salvaging alien tech. This is't the Kree we're familiar with though. Marvel Boy is a member of a Kree race one parallel reality removed from ours that has advanced into something "our" Kree could only dream of. They're explorers with a portable Supreme Intelligence and ships that run on belief. Unfortunately none of this is enough to save the crew as they're intercepted by two missles from Earth as they move through our reality on their way back to their own.
What follows is the tale of how "Marvel Boy" survived and an effective demonstration of a few of his powers. Marvel Boy ends up in the hands of Midas, a man who collects alien artifacts, exposes himself to cosmic rays and wears an old version of Iron Man's armour. As he and his scientists study the alien, Noh-Varr (Marvel Boy) studies them and stages a surprising escape.
This sounds all so very bland and mundane when I describe it, but I assure you, it is anything but. This is a stunningly illustrated masterfully written piece of escapist fiction. It's filled with mad ideas and furious hyper-kinetic action. It's books like this that should be thrust at those who claim that super-heroes are dead.
