Wildcats Version 3.0 #21

A comic review article by: Jason Sacks
It's an all-out action issue of Wildcats Version 3.0, as the team travels to Greece to save Zealot, who's been kidnapped by members of her former cult, The Coda. Those cult members seek revenge against Zealot because she betrayed their cause.

Four issues from the end of the series, Joe Casey produces an issue that would be a perfect jumping-on point for new readers. Gone from this issue are the satires of life in a multinational corporation, the layered characterizations and the intrigue. This month we get actions, lots of action, flowing from every panel. And it's great! Just like a movie that builds up steam and then explodes into action, this issue of Wildcats relieves the tension that had built up by giving us an issue full of blazing guns and slashing swords. Rouleau's art is a nice complement to Casey's story - full of mood and menace, but clear, clean and flashy.

The beauty of it is that this story has been building for months. The Coda had been looking for Zealot for several issues, so their presence is a payoff for longtime readers. Putting the team into action is also a reward for us readers who have been anxious to see the heroes suit up and start to fight.

Coda War One will be running through the last few issues of this series. It's a great payoff for longtime fans, and an even bigger treat for those who have never read the series.
