Writer: Brian Azzarello
Artist: Eduardo Risso

Publisher: DC Comics/Vertigo

If you’re just starting out on 100 Bullets, you’ll need to follow these instructions: To appreciate the conclusion of this story arc, “Wylie Runs The Voodoo Down,” you’ll need to back up six issues to 100 Bullets #51, and read your way to #57 beginning with part one. To get some back story on Wylie, you should check out his first appearance in 100 Bullets #28-30, and the follow-up in 100 Bullets #42. To understand the roles of the Trust and the Minutemen, the two major parties in this convoluted noir tapestry of power-struggle, intrigue, deception, betrayal and revenge, you’ve got to take in some history, and there’s plenty of that in 100 Bullets #26 and #50. To appreciate 100 Bullets as a whole, you’ve got to go back to the start with 100 Bullets #1 (or seek out the 100 Bullets Collected Editions) and slowly bring yourself up to speed with the rich cast of characters, all of whom take time developing (and there’s nothing linear to it, so don’t be alarmed, just be patient). Once you’re done with all that, you’re ready for 100 Bullets #57.

For those of you who have been following this remarkable series and the “Voodoo Down” storyline in particular, we are finally confronted with the up-until-now uncertain fate of the enigmatic Mr. Shepherd, Dizzy the tough-as-nails damsel, and the rough but likable Wylie. Whew, I say, my nerves no longer taut and my palms no longer sweaty. We made it. At least until next month.

In “Voodoo Down”’s aftermath, the once wayward Minutemen have pretty much fallen into Agent Graves’ line. Graves is soon going to make his move against his former bosses, the Trust. Then all Hell is gonna break loose, and I’ll be back to taut nerves and sweaty palms as the series climaxes and concludes. I don’t know who is going to survive 100 Bullets. I just hope it’s me.
