"Mmm…five silver bullets…"
This month, Ian Boothby has churned out the most fast-paced, laugh-a-second Simpsons Comics I've ever read. And that's coming from a guy who rarely laughs out loud and any comic I read.
In this issue, Boothby satirizes everything from U.S. elections, to the second amendment debate, to excessive marketing campaigns, the British, felines, and everything that comes with the various Simpsons characters. Half the genius of this issue lies in the fact that Boothby is able to lock everything in place, with each little mockery fitting into one another. By far better than most of the Simpsons TV episodes I've seen, and a consistent comic book you should be reading.
When it comes to comics like Archie, the Simpsons, and Disney comics where the characters are already well-defined, the artist needs to use his imagination to portray action and not contort the caricatures very much. Steve Steere Jr. is not a name I'm familiar with, but he does as good a job as semi-regular penciller Phil Ortiz in the perfect rendering of the Simpson's characters.
There's not many comics where you get 27 pages of story for $2.99, and with the consistency and fun you'll have with this, there's no reason that it shouldn't be part of your comic book repertoire.
