Comics by Lemony Snicket, William Joyce, Neil Gaiman and more!
Edited by Art Spiegelman & Francoise Mouly

Let's run down some of the creators who have stories in this humongous comic book BOOK! This book is huge and filled with fun stories. The creators are: Art Spiegelman, Lemony Snicket, Richard Sala, J. Otto Siebold, Vivian Walsh, Tony Millionaire, Neil Gaiman, Gahan Wilson, William Joyce, Basil Woverton, Joost Swarte, Carlos Nine, Kaz, Barbara McClintock, Patrick McDonnell, R. Sikoryak, Martin Handford! I'm not a kid anymore, but I really enjoyed the stories, it allowed my imagination to run wild with fantasy landscapes with strange and silly characters frollicking all over this magnificent book.

You ask what may you encounter or meet in this comic book? Hmmm...let me see, how about a largely laconic Yeti. Largely laconic basically means 'mostly silent'. It's a story about a little girl named Lucretia who encounters the Yeti and her adventure in searching for the Yeti has her encountering another little girl in a cave that makes soup out of bark wood. When Lucretia collects bark wood, snow gathers on her and she in turn looks like a Yeti and she gives a little boy a start when peering through his window and the cycle starts all over again! Another story has some cool penguins who walk on Sepulveda Blvd. A road that actually runs from the South Pole to the Hollywood Bowl! On their long trek, they must not get angry with each other, because whoever gets angry first must give up his gold to the other one, but what winds up happening is a tricky fox takes the gold!

After this story you have Art Aimesworth - boy crimefighter and whiz kid! He is out to save the tulips in Holland and does he have a flying machine that will boggle your senses! Neil Gaiman comes up with Edgar and friends who encounter monstrous dead people. One skeletal dead person even plays musical ribs, if you can imagine that! It's all a dream...or is it? Then there is Jumpin' Jupiter and his super sensitive magnetic ears...this is a story that Dr. Seuss would love!! Another story has a guy losing his head, but all turns up well! Then there are mice and pirates...if you can fathom a story like that. Like I said, there is a lot of imagination placed in this book!

One of my favorites is the Boffo Family who take their evening walks daily. The Boffo kid doesn't like wearing a glove on his head. Yes, they dress unusual and the neighbors are having the local folks sign a petition to kick them out of the neighborhood because of their unusual behavior and strange dress. Great story! Then if you like honey bears, there is a quickie story for you in here too, along with a story about a very intelligent owl! Not only will kids love this book, but adults will find it fascinating too! "It was a Dark and Silly Night" is a book that will give your family extreme pleasure in reading!
