Zen #0 is a look upon mankind, the disasters, the way man treats his fellow man, tragedy, achievement and heroism. Zen wonders about humans when he witnesses famine, genocide and other atrocities that man has caused upon himself. There is some comedy as Zen exchanges words with Unit 64-H that he affectionately refers to as 'Tinhead'. There are some stand up characters in this issue, like Major Karl Lorenz of the United States Alien Control Group. What I like about this comic book, is that many times characters stand out and the reader ponders if they could do a spin-off on someone like the Major.

It's possible, there are many great possibilities to the Zen story. There is plenty to explore. I love it when an another icon falls into the story and this time it was Nira! Nira recruits Zen to do some bounty hunter work. Somewhere in this exciting story...you will hear the words: 'death to the Imperialist Warmongers' and things just get a tad more intriguing from that point on. This is a comic book that has a story that moves like a locomotive and has artwork to match! I was touched to see Zen and Nira assisting firefighters at Ground Zero after 9/11 at the end of this story! You want a story with punch, then I say pick up Zen!
