Odyssey is another anthology title though in a comic book format and featuring the heroes of Avatar. The reason why I added the title to my subscription list is that sometime the new Isis will be featured. Besides I had saved a lot of money buy shunning Bruce Wayne: Transsexual Runaway Psychotic Passions Watcher.
Shelby Robertson butchers Darren G. Davis’ first story. He/She/It has what it takes to tell a story in comic book format, but He/She/It must stop drawing like the unholy child of Rob Liefield and Bill Sienkiewicz.
Ash(?), inker Billy Crooks and colorist Blond(?) do much better job with “Father’s Day” in which Trident confronts his father Poseidon. Trident seems to have a heroic potential, but I really think this story was related far too soon. We really didn’t have time to get to know Trident, and a few more traditional adventures would have helped.
The best story in the book and good in its own right is Zachery Huncher’s “Judo Girl.” The title character is dangerous and moves quickly in displays of martial arts prowess thanks to the sublime artwork of Sean Murphy O’Sullivan. The punch-line in the unexpected joke is hilarious and one I've not seen before.
“Leviathan” by Scott Davis hits all the right buttons, but Orion the Hunter is not a very likeable character. Dean Nichols, Edde Wagner and Billy Crooks with the Blond provide nice artwork though it’s still a little too Imagey with its dependence on metal bands and big veins for my tastes.
