Indiegogo Spotlight: Lil’ Steve’s Fund RaiserA comics news article
Anibal Arroyo, creator and artist of Lil’ Steve’s Closet, is looking to crowd source a book project that originally came to him when he was back in high school as a class project, some 20 years ago. Needless to say, it has evolved into what it is today and that is, a huge milestone in his personal life as well as his artistic career. The story is loosely based on his eldest son, Steve, who was 5 years old when Anibal began this story — Steve is now 16. Anibal tells us that he is particularly proud of this project, not only because it’s his first solo project, but because, with its completion, it literally represents the completion of a chapter of his life. He feels that by finishing it up, and sharing his story with everyone, he is allowing kids of all ages to realize that they too can accomplish anything they want in their lives as long as they are determined to complete what they start
With Lil’ Steve’s Fund Raiser parents and their children will be able to enter a magical world of fantasy and fun that will take them on a journey through the prehistoric age, and experience it through the eyes of a child. Arroyo's goal is raise $10,000; however, to reach that goal he needs the help of friends, family and fans. This money will not only cover printing costs but also cover the cost of distribution, the purchase of ISBN numbers and barcodes, as well as promotional and advertisement materials, plus shipping costs. The book itself will be available in both softcover and special edition hardcover formats.
Contributors will receive a number of perks, including exclusive sketch cards with artwork based on the book, a coloring book set, gift cards and -- if that’s not enough -- if qualified backers send him a photo of themselves Aroyo will transform that photo into a one-of-a-kind 8 ½″ x 11″ black and white portrait. Lil’ Steve’s Closet is a project that Arroyo poured his blood, sweat and tears into over the years. The book is hand-painted from cover-to-cover and it’s a tale of youth, adventure, fantasy, and a life lesson that is universal. The story behind its creation is a testament to the willpower and determination that lies within us all.
Now, while Arroyo does understand that some people may not be able to contribute at this point in time, but according to him, that doesn’t mean that everyone can’t help. “Help us spread the word by either word of mouth or directing people to this link. You can also log on to our website, follow us on twitter @MASMediaStudios, or friend us on Facebook.” And by all means, pass this information around to the folks in your individual newsfeeds, Arroyo told us.
This project is seeking to raise at least $10,000 by July 5, 2014
