Blackline Comics Begins Running The Epic Series “ENGINE” on its Website

Publisher Blackline Comics’ follow-up to its digital flagship title, BLACK SALT: THE LAST HEROES LEFT, is a swashbuckling, sword-wielding space opera with a twist of martial arts mayhem known simply as ENGINE, created from the mind of artist Tim Tyler.
"ENGINE is a combination of many genres of film, gaming and comics that I have enjoyed over the years,” says Tyler, a Kentucky native who most notably inked over Tim Vigil’s artwork on the independent comic series FAUST. “Some of the early influences are the action scenes of DRANGONBALL Z, games such as GRANDIA II and SKIES OF ARCADIA, the comic series BATTLECHASERS and films like STAR WARS and LORD OF THE RINGS. I mix it all with a bit of anime and my love of Silver Age comics, especially the works of Jack Kirby."
ENGINE, because of how fertile Tyler’s creative mind is, almost defies classification, which is the true virtue of the series. “Just when you’ve become comfortable with the direction the book is going in, it switches up on you, but its best that you experience that when you read it, says Blackline Comics’ Director of Operations Michael De Lepine, one of ENGINE’s biggest fans, and the letterer for the online series, which he likes to phrase as being “digitally remastered.”
While ENGINE runs on the Blackline Comics website, it will be also prepared as an issue-by-issue digital comic to be sold on sites such as Comics XP (www.comicsxp.com), and the digest-sized trade paperback will soon be available on Blackline’s web store for $9.95 per copy for those who still crave the feel of a comic book in their hands. More information will be made available in the coming weeks.
ENGINE, which debuted on the Blackline website on October 18th, will post new installments on Sundays and Wednesdays. For more information or any inquiries regarding ENGINE and other projects under development, visit our website at www.blacklinecomics.com.
