President Obama and Captain Action Fight for Justice

Captain Action #5 features President Obama and Captain Action as they battle a space alien death panel and the insidious Red Crawl. This issue will be on sale August 26th and is supported by retailer events in select cities nationwide.

This issue, as planned prior to President Obama’s election, was meant to offer readers a comic showcasing our President in a leading action-oriented role.

“Since then, practically every comic publisher has featured President Obama,” said Ed Catto of Captain Action Enterprises. “As a result, we repositioned our story, and it now serves as a kind of tongue-in-cheek commentary on all the other comics featuring the President. We might be the first comic to feature Vice President Joe Biden and certainly are the first to feature the VP’s Deputy National Security Advisor, Brian McKeon.”

“We’re proud of the cover by Mark Sparacio showing Captain Action as he morphs into the guise of President Obama,” said Joe Ahearn of Captain Action Enterprises. “For the non-political crowd, we offer an alternate cover by comics legend Paul Gulacy that is also a beauty.”

“I’m more interested in telling good stories than in politics,” said Moonstone Publisher Joe Gentile. “but Obama is from Chicago, and we love to support our ‘hometown’ guy.” Moonstone (www.MoonstoneBooks.com) publishes a wide variety of comics featuring characters such as the Phantom, Zorro, The Green Hornet and Kolchak: The Night Stalker from their Chicago-based offices.

In addition to the main story with President Obama, Captain Action #5 includes back-up stories featuring Action Boy, Captain Action’s sidekick, and an untold Captain Action thriller that takes place in Cuba 1962.

The issue #5 release follows the August debut of Geppi’s Entertainment Museum’s Captain Action Exhibit. The Baltimore kickoff featured author Michael Eury signing his critically acclaimed new coffee table book, Captain Action: The Original Super-Hero Action Figure. The exhibit, featuring Captain Action collectibles and memorabilia from the past 40 years, runs through October 13, 2009.

Future Captain Action Enterprises plans call for a Lady Action spin-off, the exciting new Zeroids series, a prose anthology book and the much anticipated “Captain Action: Season 2” story arc debuting in early 2010.
