Titan Books at SDCC

Roman Dirge will be at the forefront of Titan’s activity, celebrating the release of a brand new Lenore comic. The first new ‘Lenore’ in two years, The Macabre Malevolence of Mortimer Fledge heralds the joyful return of the twisted genius that is Roman Dirge and his dead – and deadly adorable – creation, revealing at last the secrets behind the night of her embalming over 100 years ago. Forming Issue #1 of Volume Two in the tales of the ‘cute little dead girl’, the new comic is available in two covers, and both will be on sale at Titan’s booth, 5337, where Dirge will be stopping by to sign on Friday 24th July at 3pm and on Saturday 25th July at 1pm.

Roman Dirge will be appearing with DiggNation’s Alex Albrecht in a panel on Saturday July 25th, 6-7pm in Room 8, to talk about the past, present and future of Lenore and his other upcoming work with Titan Books, which is set to offer a plethora of Dirge’s gorgeously grisly tales. Dirge will also be signing in Autograph Alley on Friday 24th July 11am-12pm.

Sunday 26th July sees Official Simon & Kirby Library editor Steve Saffel take the stage with Jack Kirby biographer Mark Evanier to discuss the work of the comics legends in a Jack Kirby Tribute panel at 10am in Room 7AB. Following Joe Simon’s appearance with Titan at New York Comic-Con in February, the deluxe compendium of the duo’s work The Best of Simon & Kirby received phenomenal acclaim from press and fans alike. Signed copies will be available to buy on Titan’s booth as well as exclusive printed lithographs, each hand-numbered from 1 through 100 and signed by Joe Simon himself. The lithographs come in two designs, one featuring the iconic Fighting American and the other starring the perennially seductive The Girl Who Tempted Me, on sale for $75 each.

Con-goers can also stop by the SuicideGirls booths 433 and 2635 for an eyeful of Tank Girl, as Titan Books has teamed up with the Girls to give away bookmarks featuring new artwork from Tank Girl artist Rufus Dayglo. Plus, 20 of the finest SuicideGirls will be sporting customised Tank Girl t-shirts, specially designed by Dayglo for the event! Dayglo and Tank Girl’s co-creator Alan Martin will be launching new Tank Girl mini-series ‘Skidmarks’ with Titan in November.

MOVIES & TV…
Following the exclusive footage preview of Mark Millar’s upcoming movie Kick-Ass on Thursday 23rd [Hall H, 5.45-6.30pm], Titan will be amping up the excitement with a giveaway of limited edition Kick-Ass bookmarks at their booth 5337, featuring Chloe Moretz in full Hit Girl mode. There will also be collectible glossy brochures for Kick-Ass: The Movie Book, Titan’s upcoming official companion to the movie. The book is written by Mark Millar himself, who has promised fans that “pretty much every note, thought or drawing we’ve ever put together on Kick-Ass can be found in this beautiful book.”

Kevin Smith will be entertaining the crowds in Hall H, 5.15-6.45 on Saturday 25th, arriving in from New York City and his work on Bruce Willis/Seann William Scott/Tracy Morgan movie, ‘A Couple of Dicks’. Smith’s new book, Shootin’ the Sh*t With Kevin Smith: The Best of the SModcast will be hitting shelves from Titan Books on September 29th, and there’ll be exclusive free 16pp samplers in store for fans at Booth 5337.

Watchmen fans can get the inside scoop in a panel with Zack Snyder, and a lucky few will be treated to an exclusive after-hours screening of the Director’s Cut on Saturday 25th with his live commentary, so Titan is getting in on the act with a competition to win a piece of original Dave Gibbons artwork! Entry is on Titan’s booth 5337, where you can also find signed copies of Gibbons’ artbook, Watching the Watchmen, plus Watchmen: The Art of the Film, and Clay Enos’ gorgeous photography collection, Watchmen: Portraits.

The cast and crew of CBS’s hit show Ghost Whisperer will be out in force to give a first-look at Season Five of the show in a panel on Sunday, 1-2pm in Room 6BCF, where Jennifer Love Hewitt, Jamie Kennedy, Camryn Manheim, David Conrad and Christoph Sanders are joined by exec producers Ian Sander, Kim Moses and P.K. Simonds. Titan will be selling signed copies of the official Ghost Whisperer Spirit Guide on their booth!
