Zen Intergalactic Ninja, who is being relaunched by Devil’s Due Publishing with an all-new comics series written by superstar scribe Joe Casey, signed two collectible toy deals at the San Diego Comic-Con.
Shocker Toys announced that the company will release two Zen action figures, including a 6-7 inch figure and a 3 inch mini figure.
“The large figure is part of Shocker’s Indie Spotlight line, and the smaller figure will be part of their very popular ‘Shockini’ line,” said Zen licensing director Robert V. Conte.
Shocker Toys CEO Geoff Beckett said, “We always want to make the toy experience the best it can be, by bringing everyone’s favorite comics characters to life. We’re very pleased to add a character as iconic as Zen Intergalactic Ninja to our roster.”
Shocker’s Indie Spotlight line features some of the best-known independent comic-book characters in super-poseable figures, with a full size pack-in comic. Other Indie Spotlight figures are Jim Valentino’s ShadowHawk, David Mack’s Kabuki and Sam Kieth’s The Maxx. Shocker’s roster also includes Who Wants to be a Superhero? and GWAR action figures.
Also at San Diego , Onell Design announced that it will release a limited edition 2-1/2 inch Zen Intergalactic Ninja action figure based on the art of Lamour Supreme, the illustrator of the continuing Zen series in Heavy Metal magazine.
Onell Design president Matt Doughty said, “Lamour Supreme is one of the most talented people in the business today, straddling both the toy design and illustration worlds. It’s a great pleasure to be able to work with him in creating Onell’s Zen Intergalactic Ninja figure.” The figure will be compatible with the company’s existing Gylos System series figures, and will feature fully interchangeable parts for customization.
Zen creator/writer Steve Stern said, “Dan Cote and I couldn’t be more excited about these new figures, from two of the most innovative companies in the collectible toy market.”
