Captain Action Enterprises, LLC has announced plans to relaunch the Zeroids, the popular sixties robot toys.
Like the recently relaunched Captain Action property, Zeroids were originally a toy manufactured by Ideal. Billed as “robots from space”, these toys were successful for several years, buoyed by a national TV and print advertising campaign.
“We’ve just started with Captain Action, our first re-launched line, but having received phenomenal interest, we’re ready to do it all again with Zeroids!” said Joe Ahearn of Captain Action Enterprises, LLC.
The Zeroids, introduced in 1967, were three battery-operated robots with the ability to build, construct and destroy. The line was expanded and modified over several years.
“The Zeroids predates Transformers and Micronauts, but has all the elements of a successful series. Initially, we’ll start re-marketing the property with apparel and items sold online, and we’re proud to announce we’ve signed with Moonstone Books again to produce our Zeroids comics, “said Captain Action partner Ed Catto.
Publishing plans call for both a standard series in late 2008 and an all-ages series for Q1 2009.
“We’re ecstatic to work with Ed and Joe again on Zeroids and we are looking for another successful partnership”, said Moonstone Publisher Joe Gentile.
Zeroids teaser cards will be available at Comic-Con International in San Diego and more plans will be released in the coming weeks.
