Apparently Green Lantern Has a Director as Well

Those who know me, know my love and passion for the Green Lantern character and mythos, so this has been an interesting morning. With the news that George Miller's "Justice League" will have spin-offs, Variety reports the latest spin-off news:
"Warner Bros. has set Greg Berlanti to direct "Green Lantern," a live-action take on the DC Comics superhero.
Berlanti will write the script with Marc Guggenheim and Michael Green. Donald De Line will produce; Andrew Haas is exec producer.
Berlanti hopes to make the jump to big-budget fantasy fare after serving as writer and exec producer on character-driven TV series "Dirty Sexy Money," "Brothers & Sisters," "Everwood," "Jack & Bobby" and "Dawson's Creek." He previously directed 2000 feature "The Broken Hearts Club."
"Green Lantern" was hatched in 1940. Hal Jordan, a second-generation test pilot, is an ordinary man who has been charged with defending a sector of the universe.
Warner Bros. and DC Comics assigned the project to De Line, who is currently in Morocco shooting "Body of Lies," the Ridley Scott-directed WB drama that stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Russell Crowe.
Guggenheim, who works with Berlanti as a writer-producer on "Brothers & Sisters," wrote the Marvel comicbooks "Amazing Spider-Man," "Wolverine" and "Blade." Green, the "Heroes" co-exec producer who worked with Berlanti on "Everwood" and "Jack & Bobby," wrote the Marvel Comics title "Superman/Batman" and was a writer-producer on "Smallville."
Analysis: So there's been no casting for the "Justice League" movie. The story has apparently been leaked onto the internet and now WB plans on individual films set in the same universe following the collective "Justice League" film. So if "Justice League" features the characters as "already established," do these individual films take place before or after "Justice League?" Also, the problem arises once more, what about Bale and Routh? Do Supes and Bats get "Justice League" spin-offs creating confusion between versions and for all intents and purposes, a movie multiverse? Also, many web outlets have posted a picture of Hal Jordan with the "Green Lantern" movie reports. From what I can find out, this is both misleading and inaccurate as John Stewart is the featured GL in "Justice League" in a universe where Hal Jordan doesn't exist. However, this report mentions Hal which to me creates even more confusion because the last I heard, the rapper Common was the front runner for John Stewart. Please WB, stop the madness.
