Phoenix, Arizona - Steve Rude, creator of Nexus and The Moth and artist on Superman, Batman, Captain America and others, will be making an appearance at Samurai Comics in conjunction with the Phoenix Comicon’s Art and Costume Contest Tour.
Samurai Comics Owner Mike Banks said, “This is a unique opportunity for fans to see an award winning artist as he works through the creative process. It is a tremendous opportunity for aspiring comic artists to learn first-hand from one of the comic book industry’s modern masters.”
Rude will be at Samurai Comics from 1:00-4:00 pm and the Phoenix Comicon’s Art and Costume Contest will be running from 4:00-7:00 pm on Saturday, December, 16th 2006.
“Best of all, while people watch Steve work, they can work on their own comic art for the art contest being held by the good folks from Phoenix Comicon,” Banks added.
Rude will be in store for a painting demo to be followed by an art contest in which fans of all ages can use their own artistic talents for a chance to win prizes including tickets to the Phoenix Comicon in January.
Contests include a Captivating Color Contest (a no timed coloring contest) and a Dynamic Doodle Contest (a 15 minute timed sketch contest), as well as a costume contest.
“Having a legendary comic book artist and his fans together is tremendously exciting for both Samurai Comics and the Phoenix Comicon.” said Noel Van Zandt, Communication Director for the Phoenix Comicon. “Mr. Rude has been one of our favorite guests for years, and we’re honored to have him join us and Samurai Comics on our Art and Costume Contest Tour.”
