DC COMICS MANGA IMPRINT CMX TO PUBLISH OMUKAE DESU VOL. 1

CMX, the manga imprint of DC Comics, announced at New York Comic-Con plans to publish OMUKAE DESU, from writer/artist Meca Tanaka, for release in August.

We've all heard the tale of those gifted with the ability to "see dead people," but what if you could see dead people and a guy in a giant bunny suit fighting on the street? What if the guy in the suit was trying to get those dead people to the other side? High school student Madoka is recruited by the guy in the bunny suit - Nabeshima - to work for the Gokuraku Sogei, a transportation service to heaven. Nabeshima is just plain busy, and since Madoka has the power to see lost souls, he's chosen to help lighten Nabeshima's load.

Not surprisingly, many of the dead aren't too keen on hopping aboard Nabeshima's motorcycle and crossing over to the afterlife, feeling they've got tons more to do in the land of the living. It's Madoka's duty to help the dead feel some sense of closure and willing to break on through.

Poignant, mystical and at times humorous, OMUKAE DESU creates an interesting and challenging vision of the afterlife without sacrificing one key component: the humanity and sense of loss experienced by its characters, whether living or dead.
