Local Convention to host the only National team appearance of SUPERMAN/BATMAN creative team

Ed McGuinness and Dexter Vines, artistic team of DC Comics hit, sell-out comic book series to head-up at The Comic Book Show on Sunday, May 1st in Nashua, NH.

Nashua, NH - On May 1st, comics’ longest running publisher, DC Comics, will send two of their top creative talents to visit with comic fans of all ages at The Comic Book Show in Nashua, NH. Appearing will be Wizard top 10 artist Ed McGuinness, with inker Dexter Vines, both of the smash hit series, “Superman/Batman.” This will their first ever appearance together in New England, and only their second national appearance as a team.

McGuinness started at DC Comics penciling their most famed and revered icon, Superman—an assignment that propelled him to the forefront of comic fandom. After that successful run, DC awarded him with their two most important icons—Batman and Superman. Together in a team-up book, Ed McGuinness has penciled the first series featuring Superman and Batman together in over 25 years. After a sell-out success of the first six issues, McGuinness is returning, with inker Dexter Vines, to pencil the next major story-arc,

Hand-picked by McGuinness, Dexter Vines has been McGuinness’ inker for years. Together, the two sign their work with one name—“eDex.”

“Dexter Vines’ inking style defines Ed McGuinness’ pencils the way no one else has,” said show promoter, Christian Miller. “ With team ’eDex’ returning to Superman/Batman as of issue #20, THE COMIC BOOK SHOW wanted to give New England fans a treat by getting Ed and Dex together for a great regional visit. We’re extremely lucky. Bringing these two great talents together for an appearance is a comic fan’s dream come true.”

As an added bonus, every paid admission will receive a free copy of the super-limited edition eDex Sketchbook, featuring rare and unpublished work from McGuinness and Vines. The book will be limited to only 500 copies. “You won’t be able to get this elsewhere and we expect to sell out early in the day,” said Miller. “We’ve already had hundreds of calls and emails about this.”

To make the eDex celebration even bigger, Rich Woodall and Matt Talbot will be signing and debuting the latest issue of Johnny Raygun, a New Hampshire produced comic book. They will also be offering their special exclusive version of Johnny Raygun, featuring Ed McGuinness’ first ever sketch cover. Returning to The Comic Book Show festivities will be the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Mirage Studios. TMNT Creator Peter Laird will be on hand with Turtle creative team members Michael Dooney, Jim Lawson, Eric Talbot, and Dan Berger.

“It’s shaping up to be a pretty fun time,” said Miller. “In one day, we’ll be featuring the talents that have produced three of the best selling comics in New Hampshire.”

The Comic Book Show will feature dozens of New England area comic book, toy and collectible dealers. Fans will be able to pick up limited edition collectible comic books from Johnny Raygun, limited edition art prints from Ed McGuinness and Dexter Vines, as well as a number of other collectibles produced exclusively for the show. There will be free comic books for children and hundreds of free posters provided by DC & Dark Horse comics.

The Comic Book Show is May 1st at the Nashua Holiday Inn from 10am to 3pm. $4.00 admission to the show gets each patron the limited edition sketchbook. Free passes available at many local comic shops.
