Second printings on issues 1 and 2 en route
The first issue of Silent Hill: Dying Inside, the comic book based on the bestselling video game from Konami, sold out quickly from comic stores nationwide, and Diamond Comics Distributors has reported extensive backorder activity. Silent Hill #2 sold out, including IDW’s overprinting, before it even shipped to stores.
As a result, IDW Publishing has ordered second printings of both issues, timed to arrive at stores in April with issue #3. These second printings will have the same cover art but will be distinguished by a blood-red eyeball in IDW’s logo, as the company has done with other second printings.
IDW’s Editor-in-Chief Jeff Mariotte said, “We anticipated a lot of interest in this comic book—the Silent Hill video game has four million avid fans around the world, and they are devoted to the horrific experience that is Silent Hill. National exposure in such magazines as Wired, Entertainment Weekly, Electronic Gaming Monthly, and the Official Playstation Magazine helped spread the word beyond traditional comics consumers. We’re not surprised by the demand, but we want to make sure comic retailers have copies available to meet it.”
Silent Hill: Dying Inside is written by New York Times bestselling author Scott Ciencin. The first two issues have art by Ben Templesmith (30 Days of Night), and the subsequent issues are illustrated by exciting newcomer Aadi Salman. Silent Hill: Dying Inside is a 32-page, full color comic book with a retail price of $3.99.
