Brian Bolland, one of the most highly acclaimed artists in comics, will be spotlighted in a new series of posters from DC Direct. The series begins in February 2004 with the BATGIRL FIRST APPEARANCE POSTER (AUG030287), a 24" x 36" full-color poster featuring the cover art from BATMAN: GOTHAM KNIGHTS #43. This dynamic illustration portrays Batgirl, Batman and Robin as they charge into action.
"Brian has created more than 300 covers for DC, which is a staggering amount of powerful images," says Georg Brewer, DC's VP, Design & Retail Product Development. "This series gives us the chance to showcase fan favorites such as the cover to BATMAN: THE KILLING JOKE, which has never been made into a poster."
"We've wanted to do something with Brian for a while, and with the success of our Alex Ross posters, we thought the time was right to start a new series," says Syndee Barwick, Director, Product Management, DC Direct. "It's a great opportunity to work with Brian, bringing back some of his classic covers and possibly creating some new images as well."
The BATGIRL FIRST APPEARANCE POSTER (AUG030287) is advance-solicited in the August issue of Previews (Volume XIII #8) and is scheduled to arrive in stores on February 18, 2004 with a price of $7.95 U.S.
