In a recent interview at NEWSARAMA, writer Joe Pruett and artist Brian Stelfreeze reveal some details about their upcoming four-issue Domino limited series.

The creative duo hope to bring a little insight to the character of Domino, who has typically been portrayed as a tough girl with a big gun. Stelfreeze and Pruett say that they have ignored most of Domino‘s convoluted backstory and have concentrated on the essence of the character. “We're going to touch on who Domino really is,” Pruett said. “There needs to be something to go in search for, something to challenge our heroine and something to achieve. Domino's going in search of her name -- her real name. And what's the best way to do that? Why, find your mommy, of course.”

Both creators agree that Domino’s design is unique in comics and hope to take advantage of her sleek visual look by writing a book that looks more like action films and anime than your typical comic. “The action scenes made creating the visuals more fun,” Stelfreeze says. “Domino kicking ass. Joe created a bunch of situations where the tension just builds and builds, then she totally cuts lose in these giant action set pieces.”

“It has the spy-adventure action that's been missing from the last few James Bond movies,” Stelfreeze adds. “It's an incredible ride with something different around every corner. You don't have to bring any luggage from previous stories; you don't even have to know the character, just sit back and enjoy the read.”

Domino, a four issue mini-series from Marvel debuts this May.
