Bay area residents are invited to celebrate the 25th anniversary of FANTAGRAPICS BOOKS on November 9th with four of Fantagraphics' greatest artists! At 7:30 P.M., San Francisco's MODERN TIMES BOOKSTORE will open ther doors to a signing party featuring DANIEL CLOWES, SPAIN RODRIGUEZ, RICHARD SALA and STEVEN WEISSMAN, and the bookstore will also be offering all Fantagraphics titles at 25 PERCENT OFF THE COVER PRICE for the month of November!

This special discount includes the latest books from each cartoonist at the signings: Clowes's 20TH CENTURY EIGHTBALL, Sala's PECULIA, Weissman's WHITE FLOWER DAY, and Spain's appearances in BLAB! Vol. 13 and THE COMICS JOURNAL SPECIAL EDITION SUMMER 2002. Spain will also be showing previews of his upcoming graphic novel, NIGHTMARE ALLEY, coming in early 2003 from Fantagraphics.

Fantagraphics Books is the world's leading publisher of cutting-edge work by today's most popular alternative comic artists, as well as collections of work by the greatest of the underground comix artists and classic comic strips. Since 1976, Fantagraphics founders Gary Groth and Kim Thompson have produced groundbreaking comics that treat the medium as a serious means of expression on the level of film, theater, or literature.

Dan Clowes' graphic novel collections include Like a Velvet Glove Cast in Iron, Pussey!, Caricature, and David Boring. Ghost World, Clowes's most popular book, is the best-selling book in Fantagraphics' history with over 100,000 copies in print. Known for the most part simply as "Spain", Spain Rodriguez was an active participant in the revolutionary underground comix movement of the 1960s and 70s. Spain published both My True Story and The Trashman Lives! with Fantagraphics. Richard Sala is the author of The Chuckling Whatsit, a 200 page graphic novel, as well as Peculia, a new collection of noirish good girl shorts from Evil Eye, Sala's ongoing series which is now on its 9th issue. Steven Weissman has released three "Yikes" graphic novels with
Fantagraphics: Champs, Don't Call Me Stupid, and the brand-new original graphic novel, White Flower Day.
