Justice League In Europe...

Finally... the Justice League comes to the Cartoon Network in Europe, and it's about time!

Gathered together from the cosmic reaches of the universe a new generation has hit Cartoon Network...a generation comprising the greatest superheroes of all time. Enter a team unlike any other, and a new force to be reckoned with. The most powerful band of champions that ever existed have come together to form an unbeatable league...The Justice League, an all-new, action-packed and fully-updated series that brings together the old Superfriends for the first time in more than 15 years.

When global catastrophes strike, sometimes the job is too big for a single hero.  At these moments, the world's greatest superheroes answer the call of the Justice League. This All-Star roster is made up of DC Comic book heroes Superman, Batman, Wonderwoman, The Flash, The Green Lantern, Hawkgirl and the Martian Manhunter.

Members of the League are called upon to battle against allied villains, like the infamous Joker and even Lex Luther, supernatural creatures and other powerful forces of evil determined to usurp authority over the world and destroy the League.

Although our heroes come from vastly different backgrounds, even different planets, they must learn to set aside their personal differences to fight for a common cause, which does not prove easy. By their very nature, these heroes are independent outsiders who live according to a strong personal code of honour.  They must learn to rely upon one another.

Members of the Justice League may never become "Superfriends," but they learn to work together as a team to overcome a dangerous array of interstellar invaders and world-conquering megalomaniacs.

Along with their many victories, the Justice League will also learn that sometimes a hero's true measure of greatness is how she or he copes with disappointment and defeat.

The action kicked off with a feature-length movie on 15th June, subsequent episodes are each Saturday at 10.30 BST, and the whole lot runs on weekdays from 1st July at 17.30 BST.

SBC staff reporter Alan Donald caught the first three episodes and confirms that it's not just for kids: "I loved it. As a huge Batman fan I can just say that his characterisation is spot-on, it's so cool the way Superman is slugging it out with the threats whilst Batman sits...ponders...and pulls the rabbit out of the hat at the last minute."

"As for the Martian Manhunter", Alan continues, "his voice characterisation is top-notch. You can hear the loneliness, the separation from his planet, from his peoples, in almost everything he says."

We'll be looking at specific episodes in greater depth...don't miss it! Weekdays from 17.30, Cartoon Network on satellite and cable.
