A Bit Of A Do Between DC And Wella

Ananova reports that DC Comics are suing cosmetic company, Wella, over the use of the word Kryptonite for a green hair gel.

The claims are that the product will weaken the image of Superman and infringes DC's patent.

Kryptonite was first used, according to the lawsuit, in a Superman radio show in 1943. Kryptonite is the mythical element created during the destruction of Superman's home planet, Krypton, and it's most famous variety is of the colour green.

Although not named as such, Kryptonite is used frequently as a key plot element in the current Smallville TV show.

Wella has not, as yet, commented on the lawsuit
