Popular writer/artist Roman Dirge recently announced several new projects planned for release beginning in December 2001, including a new issue of his Eisner-nominated series, Lenore. Lenore #9 will be the first issue since its hiatus which began in April of 2000, while Roman focused on his development deal for Lenore with Sony Family Entertainment, as well as a new animated series concept called Spookyland.
In addition to this new comic book project, Dirge has sculpted two tiki mugs with original designs to be used as molds for a special two-mug boxed set called the Creepy Tiki Mug Set. The mugs will come with a small, 12-page recipe book of cocktails of Dirgeıs choosing, complete with original Dirge artwork. This mug set should appeal to both his sizable fan base, and fans of tropical drinks and Polynesian Pop items, including readers of Slave Laborıs own Beach Bum Berryıs Grog Log. The mug set should be available in January of 2002.
Dirge also plans a figurine of his Betrayal character, last seen in the graphic novel The Monsters In My Tummy. The hard-plastic figurine will be about 8 inches tall, articulated, and with a heart that can be pulled out of its chest and a removeable knife in its back. The sculpture was crafted by Jean-Louis Crinon. It is tentatively scheduled for release in February of 2002.
Finally, Dirge has hinted at a new graphic novel, following the success of his books Something At The Window Is Scratching and The Monsters In My Tummy. Tentatively titled The Big-Headed Cat And Another Story Thatıs Not As Good, it could see release as early as Spring of 2002. Further details will be released as they are available.
