Alex Rodrik: How’d you get involved with Space Goat?

Quentin [Shaw] from QEW Publishing sent me an email and introduced me to Shon C. Bury from Space Goat through an email. It was spurred by some work I did for Bioroid Studio which got a lot of attention at the San Diego Comic-Con International. Ever since then Shon C. Bury and I just kept talking, emailing, and found we had some objectives in common.

AR: Tell us a bit about yourself, how’d you get involved in the industry? What drew you to the world of comics?

I’d have to say my passion was truly awoken while I was in college. I just knew I had to pencil for comics and it was then that I started collecting comics. But, I actually started studying art formally at the age of 17. After submitting some test samples to Marvel, Darren Auck, Marvel’s art director advised me to study more expressions and showed me some books on anatomy and expressions by Andrew Loomis and Burne Hogath.

Sometime later, my first job was for AK Comics. I worked on some editions of Aya: Princess of Darkness and Zein: The Last Pharaoh. After that I started work with Bioroid Studio on a mini-series called Zecta. At that time I was also working with Hays Entertainment. Then I got a chance to work on two special editions for Marvel -- Skaar: Son of Hulk and a story written by Chris Claremont, X-Men vs. Hulk.

AR: What has been the most exciting project you’ve had the chance to already work on? What title would you jump at doing if you got the chance?

Eu adoraria desenhar o Batman. Ou algum titulo do X-Men ou Thor.

Zecta was a really fun project and one I put a lot of soul into. Leviticus Cross also -- I adore that series. But getting to work with Chris Claremont was and honor. He’s a living legend and I remember reading his comics when I was in my teens. So to be working with him is great. As for a title I’d love to draw, I’d have to say Batman or any X-Men or Thor titles.

AR: How has Space Goat affected the way you view and exist within the industry?

Well, you know, it was the potential I saw for myself with representation by Space Goat. Their devotion and sincerity is really refreshing.

AR: What are some of your current projects that our readers should keep their eyes open for?

Zecta, the mini-series. Leviticus Cross #6 and onward, for Wildstorm. To be honest I couldn’t believe it when they called me up to draw it...I love that series! And now I just wait and see what more comes for me in the future.

I also want to send a big hug to everyone. Keep your eyes on the new talent coming out of Space Goat. ...and ME! :)
