Who's Who in the CBU 1674AD

A writer for over twenty years, Tony spent over ten years working internationally for a variety of television, radio and magazines as a feature and script writer, winning several awards doing so.

In 2003 he returned to comic writing, and since then has written for Marvel Comics, Walker Books, AAM/Markosia Entertainment, Panini Comics and Titan Publishing, for properties such as X-Men, Amazing Fantasy, Doctor Who, Starship Troopers, Wallace & Gromit and Shrek. With 'Two Drunk Guys In A Bar' partner Dan Boultwood he has created The Gloom for APC and in 2006 he adapted G.P. Taylor's The Tizzle Sisters and Eric and the bestselling children's book Shadowmancer. His creator owned book, Midnight Kiss, was nominated for an Eagle award in 2006.

His upcoming work includes Hope Falls for AAM/Markosia (again with Dan Boultwood), Dodge & Twist for AiT/PlanetLar, Warrior Nun Areala: Excommunicated for Antarctic Press, Robin Hood: Outlaw's Pride and the comic adaption of Anthony Horowitz's Raven's Gate series, both by Walker Books. He's also the writer of the new IDW series Doctor Who: The Forgotten with Pia Guerra on art.

This is a very short column this week, as I already wrote one and then managed to delete it. That's the joys with iPhones. I'm currently in a location where the phone network is non existant and the only 'Wi Fi' s the theme to Hawaii Five-O, playing on the pub jukebox.

I'm away for a few days because that's what I always do at the start of May, the rest of the month being filled with conventions and signings. Next week is the Bristol Comic Con, the week after is a signing at Orbital Comics in London, and then the following weekend is the MCM London Expo. So this week is spent walking along sunny, leafy lanes and having strolls along the beach. Of course, being a freelance writer, I'm also working on two pitches and a couple of scripts...

But anyway, did you buy the books I released last week? No? Then I say fi and shame on you. Shame. If you didn't know, last week had two releases, Amazing Spider Man Family #5, and May's Judge Dredd The Megazine, in which I had an issue of the "Tales Of The Black Museum" series, called "The Terrible Tea Time Torture Show". Both are, in my incredibly humble opinion rather awesome. The former was a short story called 'Treasure, Hunted' that involved the new character Screwball - it was actually rather cool to be writing and expanding upon a character that hadn't been really used before, and I actually met with her creator, Dan Slott at the New York Comic Con while I was signing on the Doctor Who Store booth - he was looking for Colin Baker and was surprised to not only realize that I was the writer of the short story, but also that I was the writer of Doctor Who: The Forgotten, which he apparently had in his toilet. Which is kind of a compliment, really. Well, I'm going to take it as one.

The other story has a live, mutant rat bursting through a man's chest, which just goes to show the infinite diversity or comics.

But that's not the only two things I have out this month - first off we have the 22 page Doctor Who: The Time Machination sometime around the 20th, where we have The Doctor and HG Wells running around Victorian London, chased by the Torchwood Institute - but yet more importantly, on the 16th of May, Dan Boultwood and myself will be signing copies of Hope Falls - The Collected Trade at Orbital Comics, London.

That's right, Markosia have agreed to still publish it, and Diamond UK have agreed to fill all the UK retailer orders, even though Diamond US cancelled it. You will however be able to order it from Amazon, Markosia.com and a variety of other places that I'll add in this column as I find them. And on Saturday 16th May, Dan and I will sign copies of it at Orbital. And I'll also sign copies of Doctor Who: The Forgotten for anyone who brings them, the only non-convention opportunity to get this done this year.

But if you want copies of Doctor Who: The Forgotten signed and you can't make that, I'll have a couple of trades and some comics available at Bristol - you can come and get them signed when I do my panel with Dan Boultwood at 2pm on the Saturday. The 'Two Drunk Guys In A Panel' panel will be an interesting affair - we're even considering dressing in our best togs for it, and Barry Nugent and Dave Montieth of Geek Syndicate will spend an hour, live and on stage interviewing us The Gloom, Hope Falls, Prince Of Baghdad, the Dopple Ganger books we do with GP Taylor as well as teasing news about other projects including Shotgun Samurai.

In addition we'll also be talking about the Golden Champagne Glass Awards, telling tall stories and blatant lies and also mentioning our individual things, like Doctor Who, Phonogram 2: The Singles Club, Forty-Five and From The Pages Of Bram Stoker's 'Dracula': Harker...

Come and watch. We need the audience. If anything, use it as an opportunity to snag a good seat for the following Vertigo panel.

Until then - have a good week! I'm going to hope this doesn't delete again...
