No time for love Dr. Jones!

Let's hit and quit it by checking out What Looks Good...

DC

BLACKEST NIGHT #4 (OF 8) $3.99 (Geoff Johns / Ivan Reis)
BLACKEST NIGHT: TITANS #3 $2.99 (OF 3) (J.T. Krul / Ed Benes)
GREEN LANTERN #47 $2.99 (Geoff Johns / Doug Mahnke)

Yeah, this is your one stop shopping place for all the geeking out over "Blackest Night" this week; so what have we here?

Well, in ...Titans #3 we've got Dove taking at least one Black Lantern Hawk; for me this is a good thing as I was quite partial to the character of Hawk and Dove in the 80's/90's. I won't go into all of that again, but let's just say that the way things have been going in the comic I have been pleased as punch. I was happy to see Hank Hall back, albeit in a much less heroic role (and here's to hoping that someday maybe we'll see him back, untarnished by the whole Monarch thing; a fanboy can dream, can't he?).

So, though I don't usually follow the Titans I am LOVING this side story about how their group has been affected by the "Blackest Night."

Over in Green Lantern the Indigo Tribe (lead by, well, Indigo) has finally showed up. What can they do? Well, I'm still not 100% sure on that, but after little peeks at them over the last several months it is cool to see them show up to do something. And apparently part of that something is easily smiting Black Lantern tale.

This is a good thing as it appeared that no single emotional light spectrum ring was doing the job. It appears that the Indigo tribe is showing us that two or more rings need to be used in unison in order to take down a Black Lantern. I'm thinking Hal is hoping he would have kept that Blue Lantern ring now. Now only does it supercharge his Green Lantern ring, but as two different emotional spectrums he could have smoked some Black Lanterns all on his own. That could have been useful seeing as there are thousands of Black Lanterns flying around now.

Instead it looks like some of the various ring factions are going to have to work together as it would appear that the more rings working together the easier it is to defeat the Black Lanterns. Getting the Green Lanterns and Zamarons might now be so hard, and ditto for the Blue Lanterns, but how are those three going to work with the Sinestro Corps? Perhaps Sinestro and his minions could be persuaded to temporarily cease hostilities against the Green Lanterns for their mutual benefit against a common foe, but what about the Red Lanterns of Rage? The Red Lanterns spew forth nothing but hate in the form of blood/plasma, and they REALLY do not get along with either the Green Lanterns or the Sinestro Corps.

There's also Agent Orange, who wields the Orange light all to himself, and he killed his previous allies, so he doesn't play well with others.

Of course, if you combine all the colors of light into one you get what? White Light.

Who doesn't see that coming?

I think it is only a matter of time before we see a White Lantern show up in these pages; could that person be Hal Jordan?

He has shown rage, hope, will, love, compassion, and even avarice, but then again, who hasn't at SOME point?

Still, my bet is on him for now.

Finally we have the core title itself, Blackest Night #4, which up front I have no idea what is coming next, so it is going to be as much as a surprise to me as it will be to you.

Good stuff, though. I am really loving this event as it truly seems to be living up to the hype.

WILDCATS #16 $2.99 (Christos Gage / Shawn Moll)

Hey, Majestic, I know we went to your island and ended up causing all kinds of havoc after which we all had a massive fight over in California. I think it had something to do with the fact that you thought that you could create paradise, a small piece of the world that you could control, all so that there would be someplace safe for your adult daughter, Savant, to live. Well, as you now know, Savant didn't want to stay there so we helped her leave, and I know we had a big blowup fight (I mean, literally, a blow up fight; when Spartan exploded and messed you all up that was something, wasn't it?), but well, see, now we have an issue. Tao is on the loose, and, well, he's making a power play for what is left of the world as well, especially this super-sweet island of Max Faraday's. We need to beat Tao, but man, is he a thorn in our side. So, like I said, I know that we haven't been quite "buddy buddy" lately, what with all of the blowing up and being thrown in volcanoes and such, but we were hoping you could kind of look past that for a bit, you know, just long enough to help us defeat Tao and save the world. Or rather, what is left of the world.

If you could do that, well, that would be SWEET.

Thanks!

Much Love!!!

The Wildcats.

MARVEL

ULTIMATE COMICS AVENGERS #3 $3.99 (Mark Millar / Carlos Pacheco)

Thank you Millar/Pacheco for bringing back the crazy action that I love about an Ultimates book. This is EXACTLY what I wanted; big, powerful "heroes" doing amazing things.

In this case it is a team thrown together by Nick Fury to search for Captain America, the dude that just found out that his illegitimate son may be one of the biggest bad guys of them all. I expect plenty of ultraviolence delivered the only way that Millar can.

AWESOME.
