Who's who in the Comics Bulletin Universe - Update 2009

Who is... Michael A. Diaz?

Michael Diaz lives in Michigan, but don't hold that against him.

There he works as a Sys. Admin. while fostering dreams of one day becoming a "real" writer.

Most importantly, Michael is seriously addicted to comics, something that his wonderful wife tolerates with the patience of a saint.

He also writes this weekly column that people occasionally read.

"[O]ne of the most positive and entertaining columns going."
- Gail Simone (Birds of Prey, Villains United)

It is an extremely short week for me this week, which is good, because then I can justify spending my money on some things that I've had my eye on seeing as it is my birthday tomorrow and all.

Maybe some of those Walking Dead trades that I've been meaning to pick up would be nice...

Anyhow, short and sweet, let's take a gander at What Looks Good...

DC

BLACKEST NIGHT: BATMAN #3 (OF 3) $2.99 (Peter J. Tomasi / Adrian Syaf)

GREEN LANTERN CORPS #41 $2.99 (Peter J. Tomasi / Patrick Gleason)

Once again let's just recognize the fact that I am loving the "Blackest Night" event and leave it at that.

As I have said before, by now either you're digging them as well, or you're sick of hearing me go on about them, so let's just look at these pretty covers and know that I am salivating wildly.

Gross mental image?

So be it.

Geek-gasm!

MARVEL

UNCANNY X-MEN #516 $2.99 (Matt Fraction / Greg Land)

I've caught up on my X-Men reading as of late and I have to say that I am liking the direction that the writers have taken the team, in particular Matt Fraction's work.

If you're late to the party I don't want to ruin things for you as to what has happened already, but just know that there is a new place that the X-Men call home. Also, as you can see from this cover someone quite nefarious seems to be back.

Again.

Yeah, we've seen it all before. I think it was singer Chris Robinson who said something along the lines of that everything was now derivative and that about the only original thing now would be some guy smacking two beaver carcasses together. That may well be; sure, we've seen Magneto come back before, but Fraction has done a good job so far, so I am going to give him the benefit of doubt.

Good stuff!

What comics did you get geeked out about this week? Just stop by the WLG message boards (see link below) and share!

See you next week!

Peace!
