WLG #201: The Emerald Isle!
I'm running late, so there's no time for an introduction this week, just a quick rundown of What Looks Good...
GREEN ARROW YEAR ONE #1 (OF 6) $2.99 (Andy Diggle / Jock)Though I was never a huge Green Arrow fan to begin with I have to say that over the last few years I have become one. Mind you, this has a lot to do with the creative teams that have been tackling Green Arrow
Also, I've liked what I've seen from both Andy Diggle and Jock. I bought the first year or so of The Losers and I liked it, but every so often one has to cull one's pull list and during one of those such culls that title got cut. With this mini-series I look forward to seeing what these creators can do with the origin story (which I admit that I don't know all that well) of this fairly new favorite of mine.
GREEN LANTERN #21 $2.99 (Geoff Johns / Ivan Reis)Why am I buying this book?
Two words: Sinestro Corps.
Seriously, I have NOT been this geeked about anything Green Lantern-wise in almost 20 years, about the same time that I read Green Lantern Corps #200 and fell in love with the entire concept of the corps.
Super-geeked doesn't even BEGIN to explain it.
STORMWATCH PHD #9 $2.99 (Christos N. Gage / Andy Smith)A VASTLY underrated book, as well as one of the few WildStorm books (other than Wetworks that is coming out with regularity (not including mini-series).
In this issue a member of the team is murdered. Who? I have no idea, but seeing as I've started to become quite attached to this team I'm sure that the reveal will be very jarring.
Good stuff, people, good stuff.
PUNISHER WAR JOURNAL #9 $2.99 (Matt Fraction / Ariel Olivetti)I have to say that I am really enjoying the novelty of the Punisher dressing up in a costume, even one that is somewhat “Captain America-esque.” Do I want him to continue wearing this costume? Not hardly. For me, one of the appealing things about Frank Castle is that he is just an ordinary guy. Sure, a sociopathic one that has a SERIOUS issue with revenge and killing people, but other than that, a pretty normal guy. I don't want to see him running around in a costume like Spider-Man or Wolverine. I much prefer his simple black with the skull on the chest uniform.
But like I said, this arc has been a lot of fun, so I'm just going to enjoy it while I can.
Was there something that did it for you this week? If so, stop by the What Looks Good message boards (see link below) and spread the love, my friend.
Until then,
Peace!
