 EX MACHINA #24 (Brian K. Vaughan / Tony Harris)Vaughan and Harris's book is as good as ever and I am still loving every single minute of it. The fact that this book will be around for a couple of years after Y... leaves the stands dulls the pain a bit.  JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA #3 $2.99 (Brad Meltzer / Ed Benes)I know I've mentioned ad nauseum that I was a big fan of the Giffen/DeMatteis/Maguire version of the JLA, and I don't mean to be repetitive but I keep saying such to show how that affects my thoughts on this book. So far I have to say that I like what I am seeing. This book SEEMS epic, the vibe of this massive team reforming is nearly palpable. Something huge is happening here, but it's not the birth of something, the JLA have been around for such a long time, but it's more than a reinvention as well. In short, this book has the feel of a phoenix rising from the ashes. I like it.  MANIFEST ETERNITY #6 $2.99 (Scott Lobdell / Dustin Nguyen)Unfortunately this experiment in media forms as well as genre twisting and intertwining has come what I feel is a premature end. I had hoped that this book would have lasted a bit longer if only for the chance to see Nguyen produce some of the greatest work of his career, IMHO. Such was not to be, and this will be the books last issue.  MIDNIGHTER #1 $2.99 (Garth Ennis / Chris Sprouse)It's no secret that I love Ennis's violent take on comics, the MAX version of the Punisher being one of my favorite books. Also, I have enjoyed the Hell that he has put the Midnighter through in the various mini-series starry "The Kev", so seeing Ennis unleashed on Midnight on his own should be interesting to say the least. While I don't expect QUITE the ultraviolence that I'm enjoying in The Boys I'm sure there will be plenty of ne'er-do-wells getting what is coming to them. Think of this as a truly gay Batman on 'roid-rage with uncomfortably black humor; for one, I couldn't be happier.  CRIMINAL #2 (Ed Brubaker / Sean Phillips)Brubaker and Phillips working together on a crime noir book is enough to make me all giddy. The first issue was just enough to whet my whistle, so I am eager to see where the rest of this title goes. In a lot of ways it is really too bad that Sleeper had to end as it was such a good book. Though this isn't a direct sequel, nor could it be, thematically it fits, which makes me very happy. Was there something that did it for you this week?
