Default Jason's interview with Vincent Danks & Roger Gibson

Excellent interview, Jason. It's nice to see creators be so open about their influences, and great to see that they have such ambitious plans for the characters.

I really need to pick up that TPB of the first Harker arc, as it sounds just as good as - if not better than - that single issue that I read.

That splashpage of the British museum is pretty impressive, too.

I got my shop to order me a copy of the first trade, which I liked a lot. I thought the Satan stuff and the violence were a bit overblown, but I liked the shallowness of all the participants ("I just show up to the sacrifices for the sex") and Harker and Critchley are great characters. I wish I had readier access to the current series, but perhaps I'll get that trade, too, one day.

Default art in Harker

Reading more of the interview, Jason, I also really appreciate finding out some of the stuff about who Danks does the art. Photoshop AND Illustrator (so he gets pixel and Vector art affects), and he takes most of his photo-reference himself.

As, in fact, Alex Ross does, too. Maybe this is the crux of my hate for Gregs Land and Horn; you know they're using cheesy sources for their photo-swipes.

Yes, there's nothing wrong with photo-reference per se - but when you use obvious or inappropriate sources, it becomes distracting.
