Really, truly, seriously? Nobody here is discussing this new series?

The premise is a little silly, and I enjoyed Issue #1 a lot more than Issue #2, it's pretty easy to see that this comic is going places. Where to? I'm not sure, but it's somewhere.

Next Wednesday you should be able to pick up ALL three issues available (if your shop even has them in stock by the time you get there.) These things have been selling like crazy, and I wouldn't be surprised if Chew #1 got a FOURTH printing.

I really don't get it. I read the second issue online and then read the first in the back of Walking Dead and really just don't get it.

But I'm old and crabby and should be working on my damn column instead of discussing books I didn't care about and don't plan on reading.

I enjoy the quirky humor and universe, but I can agree that it's a little hard to see what all the craze is about. I hope people are buying and reading it because they enjoy it, and not because they hope it'll be worth big bucks down the road.

The style of the art really reminds me of a Saturday Morning Cartoon, and even some the odd quirky humor does, however it's a little too graphic to actually ever fall into that category.

I thought putting the first issue in this month's Walking Dead was a nice gesture from Image. I thought it was interesting but I think I'll probably wait for the first trade.

Hello.

I saw an advert for it but the market has been swamped with undead related books the past several years, few of which have been worthy of lining a birdcage (and I'm a Romero-phile from way back, so I do appreciate the genre). If I read a few independent reviews that proclaim it to be the greatest thing since sliced bread, I'll give it a look.

I'm not certain how common it is for people to buy books purely for investment purposes, anymore. I did okay speculating on a few titles in the mid-late 80's, but they were still books that I wanted to read. Mercifully I bypassed the entire 90's boom-bust cycle.

You know, that's not a great incentive. Rather the inverse.

Do we do banners in sigs? I didn't know that.

So, hello again and farewell for now.

Also, despite the title and what you might assume, the comic itself has absolutely NOTHING to do with zombies. Just people purchasing illegal chicken and psychics who can tell the history about whatever it is they're eating.

And that is why I don't get the acclaim.

Ah, so. With television the way it is, I'm betting they could successfully pitch that concept to Fox on any given day. I'm still waiting for the reviews, though.

That picture you included in the first post is very reminiscent of Sam Kieth's work. I appreciate his work more conceptually than in practice, but can see it attracting an audience (presuming the rest of the book is similarly illustrated).

Normally not, but it's comics-related, so . . . you know.

Possibly because it's one of the few comics to somehow not take itself too seriously, and yet take itself seriously at the same time. Like I said before with my contradictory statement, it's like a Saturday Morning Cartoon in style and feeling yet it's entirely serious and graphic at the same time. It's sort of like... in the movie world, like some of movies with Simon Pegg in it (Hot Fuzz in particular.)
